Collaboration and Artistic Autonomy

Eileen Dixon (she/they) is a Chicago-based actor,  director, producer,  and actor with a focus on creating and directing new work.

She received her MFA in Acting and Directing from UMKC in 2022 and spent the following summer at Ojai Playwrights Conference (Robert Egan's Last Year as Artistic Director), were she worked under director Casey Stangl and playwright Anna Zeigler on the workshop of The Janiad. Eileen has developed several of her own works, including In/Genuine and Regression, which were both produced in Kansas City. In September of 2023, Regression was workshopped and produced in Chicago at Redtwist Theatre. Other acting  credits include The Coterie Theatre, Ensemble Stage, and Kansas City Repertory Theatre.

Eileen was the Casting Director and a Producer for Redtwist's "Season of Pride" and "Season of Femme" , including the productions of The Normal Heart, Bottle Fly (World Premiere Production), The Totality of All Things (World Premiere Production) , Twisted PlayFest, Titus Andronicus, Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus (Midwestern premiere) , How To Transcend A Happy Marriage  (Midwestern premiere), and Chicago: Queerly Adapted... (World premiere).

In October of 2024, Eileen directed the Jeff and Reader Recommended  World Premiere of Jacqueline Goldfinger's Bottle Fly at Redtwist Theatre.

In October of 2025, Eileen adapted and directed the World Premiere of "Chicago: Queerly Adapted From The Play You've Never Heard Of That Inspired The Musical You Can't Get Away From", which was also Jeff and Reader recommended!

Eileen’s interest currently is on artful collaboration within the play workshopping process and the directors role in new play development. Eileen is highly ambitious and driven, and loves to tell stories that represent the broader community and ask challenging questions without easy answers. Theatre is a tool to have conversations, and we do that by inviting in new perspectives and sharing different points of view.
